PRESS RELEASE

Culture Ireland promotes Irish theatre, dance and music at APAP, New York, 11-15 January 2008

APAP, the Association of Performing Arts Presenters Annual Conference, held in New York each January, is the largest performing arts market in the world and key to securing US performance opportunities for international theatre, dance and music. More than 4,000 US and international programmers, promoters, producers and performers descend on New York for this event. Networking and deal-making in the exhibition halls are complemented by over a thousand theatre, dance and music showcase performances.

Culture Ireland has assembled what looks set to be the largest group of leading Irish performing arts organisations ever to travel together on a promotional mission – nearly thirty companies and ensembles drawn from theatre, dance, traditional, classical, jazz and contemporary music. Many of these leading Irish companies already have extensive experience of US touring, while for others it is an opportunity to break into the key US market. The list of participants, selected in consultation with artform resource organisations, is as follows:

Theatre: Abbey, Druid, Pan Pan, Rough Magic, Gare St Lazare, Corn Exchange, Fishamble
